Cyclical Nature Progress 02

 

This is an additional iteration- I am beginning to think it would be easier to take new images or think of a new theme- It is hard to incorporate purpose and new themes to the cycle of the beginning and end of an instant oatmeal packet.

    I like your work from a technical perspective, how you've got a collage-like feel going on, but don't feel that I'm getting a strong sense of "cyclical nature" or a message.

    I really like your use of the oatmeal pattern. I think it helps simplify your background and thus allow the main features like the bowl and oatmeal packet to stand out more. I think you could try exploring more with selecting certain oats and trying to make the oatmeal pattern more seamless compared to the square grid look it has now which could make it feel more natural and like a big pile of oats if that is what you are going for. I think the oatmeal is a really interesting idea to explore and I look forward to seeing what you do next!

    I really enjoy the white space on the right quadrant of this piece. It reminds me of milk textures related to breakfast time. I wonder what it might look like to play more with variability in the background textures. I enjoy where you're headed with this so far.

    I think you could go further with this image and concept, but if you don't feel like you're passionate about it or if you would enjoy making it, I would change it! I think you could go somewhere with this, but it's all about whether or not you think you'll have fun while doing it.

 I'm not totally clear on how I am supposed to alter these images, so here is my current interpretation! I grabbed these images:  I used the masking tool to cut out the oatmeal packets and the pouring water, and then I layered the images in this order with these effects: Layer 1 (top): Boiling water image (blending mode: lighter color) Layer 2: Masked pouring water image (blending mode: soft light) Layer 3: Masked oatmeal packets (blending mode: lighten) Layer 4: Oatmeal bowl (normal) To create this:  I wanted to combine some of the stages of the cycle into one image; I feel like I incorporated some fun textures, shape and movement into this image. I intend to experiment with different images, using different effects to make a variety of iterations.
