Destroy the Icon Progress 02

 I began to experiment with blending layers of lily pads and aquatic themes into my work, this is one of the variations I decided against using:


These are a few interesting blended layers I was playing with as well: 





I decided to use the "color dodge" blended image.

    Catherine! These are so interesting so far! I saw this post before I saw the one with the unaltered icon and I definitely had to focus in to see if I could find the icon so great job disguising the original! I especially like the last two iterations with the sort of dripping texture- it leaves a really nice window for her main facial features. I'm excited to see where you take this piece next!

    Yeah, I agree with Avery. The last one still allows her face to kind of have a shadow there. It looks cool and kind of creepy at the same time. You tried out some really interesting blending layers!

    The yellow one is so so pretty, I love how you've progressed with this icon. It is so different from the original and speaks in its own way and I love the colors in all of the images!

 I'm not totally clear on how I am supposed to alter these images, so here is my current interpretation! I grabbed these images:  I used the masking tool to cut out the oatmeal packets and the pouring water, and then I layered the images in this order with these effects: Layer 1 (top): Boiling water image (blending mode: lighter color) Layer 2: Masked pouring water image (blending mode: soft light) Layer 3: Masked oatmeal packets (blending mode: lighten) Layer 4: Oatmeal bowl (normal) To create this:  I wanted to combine some of the stages of the cycle into one image; I feel like I incorporated some fun textures, shape and movement into this image. I intend to experiment with different images, using different effects to make a variety of iterations.

  This is an additional iteration- I am beginning to think it would be easier to take new images or think of a new theme- It is hard to incorporate purpose and new themes to the cycle of the beginning and end of an instant oatmeal packet.
